The University of Western Australia is looking for a lecturer in optical microscopy for its Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis (CMCA). CMCA is a multi-user core facility supporting UWA’s research goals. It comprises a diverse range of instruments from basic to advanced, including super-resolution optical microscopy. The optical microscopy facility, located on the Queen Elizabeth II hospital campus, hosts a Nikon Centre of Excellence in Optical Microscopy, one of only ten in the world, and the only one in Australia.
Providing academic support to the Nikon Centre of Excellence and the optical microscopy facilities of the CMCA, this role will require high level expertise in optical microscopy, including experiment design, sample prep, data acquisition, statistical evaluation and interpretation. Overseeing the development of applications in the new super-resolution optical microscopy laboratory, the appointee will initiate an independent research program and engage in collaborative research projects within the University and the wider research community. The role will also direct and supervise postgraduate research projects and contribute to the facility’s training programs.
