This module provides an overview of the Global BioImaging Training Platform and provides guidance at how members of the imaging community can contribute to the Training Platform.
Global BioImaging Training Platform is an educational resource that provides educational and informative modules to anyone interested in imaging and microscopy. The modules are curated to include as much useful information related to a topic as possible. This platform is available for everyone around the globe free of charge with the target audience being researchers who use imaging and microscopy as part of their reserach and imaging scientists.
This platform is community-driven meaning that anyone from the community can contribute to the platform in the form of curated modules or updates to existing modules. The existing modules span a wide variety of topics ranging from imaging technologies and instrument operation to image analysis and data management to core facility management and operation.
A set of guidelines were developed to assist with the submission process and are available to view here.
Each module must contains the following information:
Any material that is incorporated into a module must be publicly available.
In total, there are three types of resources that can be used to make a module:
Curation provides an added value to a module and it is mandatory.
Description of resources (videos, PDF, and external weblinks) assist an end user and greatly faciliates the learning process. Providing description is requested as part of a submission form and it is mandatory.
Some examples of curation include providing a list containing topics that are taught as part of an educational video, providing a list containing suggested reading (e.g. peer-reviewed publications), and providing external training material and courses that complement and strengthen a module.
A new module can be submitted to the Global BioImaging Training Platform by completing a submission form hosted on SurveyMonkey.
