This module provides an overview of the Global BioImaging Virtual Training Platform and provides guidance at how imaging community members can contribute to the platform and submit a new module or update an existing module.
Global BioImaging Training Platform is a resource that displays educational and informative modules for individuals interested in imaging and microscopy. The available modules are curated to provide comprehensive information on topic at hand. The platform is freely available and is aimed at imaging scientists, including core facility staff as well as any imaging and microscopy enthusiasts.
This platform is community-driven meaning that anyone from the community can contribute to the platform in the form of curated modules or updates to existing modules. The existing modules span a wide variety of topics ranging from imaging technologies and instrument operation to image analysis and data management to core facility management and operation.
A set of guidelines were developed to assist with the submission process and are available to view here.
Each module contains the following information:
All of the material that is incorporated into a module must be publicly available.
In total, there are three types of resources that can be used to make a module:
Curation provides an added value to a module and it is mandatory.
Providing description of resources (videos, PDFs, and external link/web URL) assists an end user and greatly faciliates the learning process. Providing description is requested as part of a submission form and it is mandatory.
Examples of curation:
