International Job Shadowing Program - Open Call for 2025

International Job Shadowing Program - Open Call for 2025

Overview of job shadowing

Job shadowing is a professional development opportunity for directors, managers, and staff members of imaging core facilities as well as those involved in providing access, services, and training in imaging, microscopy and/or image analysis.

As part of job shadowing, an individual visits an imaging facility abroad (the host facility) to observe and learn from more experienced individuals. The host facility may have more experienced staff, operate different set of imaging technologies, or have implemented procedures not found at the visitor's home facility. This unique experience helps participants learn about various aspects of facility management and operation, image data storage, quality management, software tools, user access, image analysis, and more.

The program allows both the host facility and its visitors to exchange ideas, experiences, and expertise. Additionally, the visit is an ideal opportunity for networking and establishing collaborations between imaging facilities.

Please note: Job shadowing is not a substitute for formal education or training in microscopy, imaging, or image analysis, and it is not intended for conducting research.

Target audience

Applications are invited from imaging core facility professionals at all career stages and positions (e.g. facility directors, managers, and staff), as well as from individuals working in laboratories that provide imaging or microscopy services, user training, or image analysis support. This includes facilities and laboratories offering access to, services, or training in preclinical or medical imaging, light or electron microscopy, correlative methods, other imaging and microscopy modalities, and image analysis.
