Impact of Imaging Infrastructures

Measuring and Demonstrating Added Value

Welcome to the "Societal Impact of Imaging Infrastructures" working group, dedicated to evaluating and showcasing the broader value of imaging facilities beyond their scientific contributions.

Global BioImaging’s international working group has developed the "International Recommendation for Measuring Imaging Core Facility Impact." This framework provides a thorough set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Socio-Economic Indicators (SEIs) designed to gauge both scientific and societal contributions. It also offers insights into the feasibility of collecting various types of information needed to measure these metrics from an imaging core facility perspective.

This unified set of guidelines serves as a valuable resource for demonstrating the importance and impact of imaging facilities in supporting high-quality, reproducible research. It aids in communicating this value to colleagues, departments, faculties, institutions, and funding bodies.

Looking ahead, one of our key goals is to align with and raise awareness about the 17 international Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our ongoing efforts will benefit from the expertise of our diverse international members, who bring extensive experience in developing comprehensive frameworks and solutions for evaluating SDGs.

Join us in our mission to highlight the vital role of imaging infrastructures in advancing scientific and societal progress!

Our next meetings will take place online on January 21st, at 1 pm CET and on February 18th, at 10 pm CET .
