Event overview

Facility management constitutes a new career path for imaging scientists. Global BioImaging together with its partners in Canada and United States, Canada BioImaging and BioImaging North America, respectively, as well as Canadian Network of Scientific Platforms, are jointly organizing a course focused on facility management.

The course is open to imaging core facility directors, managers and staff as well as imaging scientists from imaging labs that offer access to imaging technologies and services. The course will feature in-person and remote speakers and provide opportunities for the participants to network with each other and the faculty.

"This course will cover topics such as measuring the impact of imaging core facilities, career development in imaging cores, facility operations, user training, enhancing staff teaching skills through the train-the-trainer concept, and microscopy training resources designed for independent learning, among others.

This course is limited to 50 places and will take place in-person only.

Event format

This event will take place in-person at the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (Neuro).

The possibility to join remotely will not be provided.

Prerequisites for application

  • You must be employed by a nonprofit research institution (institute, university, etc.)
  • You work in one of the following:
    • Imaging core facility as a core facility imaging scientist: imaging facility director, imaging facility manager, or imaging facility staff
    • Research lab with imaging as a central focus where you provide access to and training in microscopy and/or imaging to scientists in your institution or other institutions

Global BioImaging is providing a number of travel grants for successful applicants who do not have institutional travel support to attend this course. Please note that in order to be considered for a travel grant application, you must first submit an application for the course and then submit a travel grant application.

For successful travel award grantees: please note you will be expected to attend the entire course, October 1-3, 2025.

For US-based applicants: please note that we cannot provide travel grants/fellowships to individuals based in US due to funding constraints.
