At Global BioImaging, we are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of our dear colleague Spencer Shorte. He will be profoundly missed. His sharp insights, often accompanied by a witty remark and his trademark kind smile, left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His ability to inspire and unite people made him a cherished figure within the imaging community.

As co-founder and CEO of Stratocore, Spencer was an expert in the management of imaging facilities, introducing innovative tools that streamlined operations and fostered global collaboration. His influence extended well beyond his 25 years at the Institut Pasteur, shaping scientific communities worldwide, from France and Korea to many French-speaking nations.

A gifted storyteller with remarkable depth, Spencer played a pivotal role in numerous imaging network initiatives. His contributions spanned Europe and Asia, and in recent years, he made invaluable contributions to projects in Africa and Latin America, where his insights and expertise in infrastructure discussions were highly regarded.

At Global BioImaging, we are profoundly grateful for the time and effort Spencer dedicated to our network. He supported our community with unwavering enthusiasm and contributed selflessly to advancing imaging science on a global scale.

As we mourn his loss, our thoughts are with his family. At the same time, we celebrate the extraordinary legacy Spencer leaves behind.
