Event overview

Global BioImaging BioImedical Imaging 2026 Course is a course jointly organized by Global BioImaging, its partner organization in Australia National Imaging Facility (NIF), and Australian Society of Molecular Imaging (ASMI). The course is being organized back-to-back with the 11th Annual Scientific Symposium of the Australian Society of Molecular Imaging (ASMI). The course will be hosted by the Translational Research Institute (TRI) in Brisbane from 23 to 25 November.

This course is open to professionals at all career levels in biomedical imaging core facilities and service roles. For application prerequisites, please see below.

This course is limited to 30 places and will take place in-person only.

Prerequisites for application

  • You are employed by a nonprofit research institution (institute, university, etc.)
  • You work in one of the following:
    • A biomedical imaging core facility as an imaging core facility professional (director, manager, or staff)
    • A research lab with biomedical imaging as a central focus where you provide access to and/or training in biomedical imaging modalities and/or image analysis to scientists in your institution or other institutions

Travel grants

Global BioImaging is offering a limited number of travel grants to successful applicants who do not have institutional support to attend this course. You can apply for a travel grant using the same form as the course application.

Please note: To ensure the fair distribution of travel grants, if you have been awarded a travel grant by Global BioImaging within the 18 months prior to November 23, 2026, you are not eligible to apply for a travel grant.

For US-based applicants: Please note that we are unable to provide travel grants to individuals who wish to travel to or from the US due to funding regulations.

Overview of the travel grant

  • The maximum amount for an international travel grant depends on the origin of travel, with a limit of USD 2,000
  • The maximum amount for a national travel grant is AUD 1,000
  • All eligible expenses will be reimbursed upon completion of the course, up to the stated limit

Eligible items for reimbursement as part of the travel grant

  • Round-trip airline ticket
  • Accommodation for the duration of the course
  • Public transportation costs
  • Visa application fees and associated travel to and from the embassy or consulate
  • Transit visa application fees and associated travel to and from the embassy or consulate

Review of travel grant applications: the review will take place after the deadline specified above.

For successful travel award grantees: please note you will be expected to attend the entire course, November 23-25, 2026.
