Event overview

The facility management course is jointly organzied by Global BioImaging, Latin America BioImaging (LABI) network, and National Center for Structural Biology and Bioimaging (CENABIO), a multi-user imaging facility of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. The course will feature an overarching topic of facility management. Specifically, the course will feature talks on a wide variety of subjects including setting up and managing an imaging facility, sustainability of imaging facilities (cost models), quality control in imaging facilities, shared resources in imaging and microscopy, pedagogy to enhance user training, and ISO standards.

This course is limited to 24 places and will take place in-person only.

This event will take place in-person at the National Center for Structural Biology and Bioimaging (CENABIO) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The possibility to join remotely will not be provided.

Prerequisites for application

  1. You must be employed by a nonprofit research institution (institute, university, etc.)
  2. You work in one of the following:
    • Imaging core facility (light microscopy, electron microscopy, preclinical imaging, medical imaging, and microscopy/imaging fields not listed here) as a core facility imaging scientist: imaging facility director, imaging facility manager, or imaging facility staff
    • Research lab with imaging as a central focus where you provide access to and training in microscopy and/or biomedical imaging technologies to scientists in your institution and/or other institutions

For US-based applicants: please note that we cannot provide travel grants/fellowships to individuals based in US due to funding constraints.
