🌍🌎🌏🔬✨✈️ Travel Grants – Global BioImaging EoE2026
Purpose
Travel grants aim to ensure fair and equitable access to Global BioImaging EoE events for imaging professionals worldwide. We particularly encourage applications from underserved regions. The selection process promotes global, regional, and national diversity among grantees while ensuring equitable access.
Who can apply (open worldwide)
Applications are open to eligible participants from all countries worldwide.
Anyone who has never previously been awarded an EoE travel grant is welcome to apply, regardless of geographical location.
In addition to global inclusion, the selection process considers:
- Regional and national diversity
- Institutional diversity (maximum one award per institution)
- Gender balance
Prerequisites for the application
Applicants must:
- Be employed by a nonprofit research institution (e.g. university or research institute)
- Work in areas related to imaging, including image acquisition, data management, image analysis, or image data reuse
- Be actively involved in an imaging facility or imaging support role (e.g. facility manager, staff scientist, image analyst, or data workflow specialist)
- Not have received a GBI travel grant in any previous EoE edition
Application requirements
Applications must include:
- Applicant’s role within their institute or imaging facility
- Contribution to local, national, or regional imaging communities
- Plan for the dissemination of knowledge gained at the event
- Limited demographic information (e.g. gender, for anonymised reporting and diversity monitoring purposes)
Selection criteria
Applications will be evaluated by a selection committee using the following scoring system:
- Knowledge dissemination (up to 5 points)
Highest scores will be given to applicants with clear plans to share knowledge and implement it within their facility or community.
- Community contribution (up to 3 points)
Higher scores will be awarded to applicants actively contributing to local or regional imaging communities.
- Institutional role (up to 2 points)
Higher scores will be given to applicants providing open access, training, or imaging support services.
Tiebreaker rules
If two applicants score equally, priority will be given in the following order:
- Applicant from a country not yet represented among selected grantees
- Applicant with highest dissemination potential
- Alphabetical order by surname
Remaining eligible applicants will be placed on a waiting list. If a selected applicant withdraws, the next highest-ranked candidate will be offered the grant.
